Feuerteufel keeps Löwenberger fire brigade in suspense

Fire in a silo

Fighting a fire in a silo near Teschendorf developed into a veritable battle of materials for the fire brigade. It took several hours for them to get the fire under control. It was probably the work of an arsonist.
On the night of January 06th, around 96 used tires, which were used to weigh down the films, caught fire in a silo on the B 100 between Nassenheide and Teschendorf for unknown reasons. The suspicion of arson is obvious because of the weather alone, the police said.
The fire brigade responded to a witness report at 2 a.m. with several vehicles and more than 30 emergency services. Additional forces were requested based on the assessment of the situation. Löwenberg's head of operations Matthias Bonk: "Tire fires are always a material battle, because tires burn so well." In this special case, a distance of around 400 meters had to be bridged for the water supply.
Despite thick clouds of smoke, traffic on the federal highway was not affected. At no time was there a risk that the fire could spread. After the extinguishing work was stopped, the fire flared up again around 8:30 a.m. before it could finally be extinguished.
There is no evidence of one or more arsonists.
