Used tires in the Grävingholz nature reserve

On December 30, 2023, a walker discovered numerous illegally disposed of car tires in the Grävingholz nature reserve in Dortmund. The Dortmund police, represented by spokeswoman Annika Roß, confirmed that the case is just one of many similar cases in the city, although no perpetrator has yet been caught. The investigation is ongoing and it is being checked whether there are connections to further illegal disposal. Illegal waste disposal can be punished with heavy fines, and police are increasingly cracking down on this phenomenon.

About ZARE

The ZARE initiative is an amalgamation of a total of 18 companies organized in the Federal Association of Tire Dealers and Vulcanisers (BRV), 17 of which are certified disposal companies. The ZARE partners have set themselves the task of raising awareness of professional old tire recycling in Germany. At 29 locations, the ZARE partners cover almost all of Germany and the Netherlands. The ZARE partners do not have any additional certification compared to the certified used tire disposal companies who do not belong to the initiative. The certificate in accordance with the Waste Management Ordinance/BRV requirement profile alone stands for environmentally friendly disposal of old tires. The ZARE initiative makes this public.
