Illegal dumping of rubbish drives road maintenance companies to insanity

Old tire disposal in the forest

On November 26.11.2016, 20, almost 160 car tires could be recovered from a piece of forest just behind the town limit sign in Werne in the district of Unna. According to the local road maintenance department, there are an average of XNUMX per year. The illegally dumped tires are not only a nuisance from an ecological point of view: the disposal of the waste is associated with great effort and distracts from the actual work. Devices are often damaged, for example when large pieces of metal are hidden in the long grass when cutting the grass. The general public pays two to three euros for professional disposal, but this does not include the often complicated salvage.
Black sheep systematically pollute the environment, drive up at night in delivery trucks, dump their rubbish and disappear again without being seen. However, Andreas Kroll (44), who has worked for the road maintenance department for 27 years, suspects that illegal disposal is often simply a matter of convenience and thoughtlessness. The rubbish would be unloaded without further ado when you stood in front of the locked door at the landfill. There is nothing left but to file a criminal complaint, even if the chances of catching the perpetrators are slim.
