In Merseburg in the Saale district, there are increasing complaints about the illegal disposal of used tires, possibly triggered by the change from summer to winter tires. District spokeswoman Kerstin Küpperbusch therefore announced measures. She told the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung: "Nearby workshops are now being controlled with regard to their old tire disposal".
Anyone who can prove illegal disposal must expect a fine of up to 100.000 euros. If no one responsible can be identified, the district must pay for the clearance and disposal. The cost per tire is three euros, plus 80 euros for transport.
