Bonn, September 06.09.2022th, XNUMX The disposal problem in Germany is increasing. There are numerous recycling methods that conserve resources and offer real added value for people and the environment. The ZARE initiative calls for used tires to be disposed of only by certified disposal companies.
Tires are a valuable raw material, but far too many discarded tires are still improperly disposed of. Due to dubious traders, tires end up in illegal landfills in nature, in warehouses or on other unsuitable surfaces, where they harm the environment. Illegal dumping of tires is a criminal offense and costs taxpayers a lot of money. That doesn't have to be the case: certified waste disposal companies collect used tires professionally, sort them according to their respective possible uses and hand them over to proper recycling.
Diverse ways of recycling
With a volume of around 600.000 tons of used tires per year in Germany, proper disposal of the used tires is absolutely necessary. There are various methods for recycling or reusing old tires: Tires that are in good condition are reused as used tires, and suitable carcasses (tire bases) are retreaded. In addition, old tires can be recycled materially, chemically or thermally. In accordance with the Closed Substance Cycle Act, however, incineration is not the most sustainable disposal method and should only be used if the tires are not suitable for recycling. This is usually the case with seal tires, silo tires or tires with repair filler.
The professional sorting of used tires is of particular importance when it comes to disposal: Tires can only be sent to the respective further processing options and the recycling potential fully exploited if they are properly sorted. This meticulous work, which requires a trained eye and a lot of know-how, is only carried out by certified waste disposal companies.
Choose certified disposal companies – protect the environment
The ZARE initiative has existed since 2015 and has been committed to reliable, professional disposal of used tires ever since. ZARE currently has 18 specialists in the disposal of used tires and manufacturers of new products made from ELT (End-of-Life-Tyres). All partners of the initiative are certified according to the Waste Management Ordinance and also comply with the disposal criteria of the Federal Association of Tire Dealers and Vulcanisers (BRV).
Tires consist of many valuable components such as rubber, steel, carbon black or textiles, which can be used again after the first life cycle. Recycling companies make many new products from the old tires. These include retreaded tyres, rubber granulate for sports fields and playgrounds, stable mats, noise protection walls and much more. If as many tire dealers, car dealerships, garages, fleet companies and municipalities as possible have their worn tires disposed of exclusively by certified disposal companies, a lot of waste can be reduced, resources saved and less energy consumed.
