Tire recycling in focus: ZARE representatives in discussion with NRW Ministry of Economic Affairs

Paul Rösler (Rösler Retreading, AZuR partner), Daniel Schockmann (Regupol material recycling, AZuR partner), Christina Guth (AZuR network) Mahmoud Daouk (Reifengruppe Ruhr, ZARE partner)

During the expert discussion in the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Economic Affairs, one thing became clear: the circular economy with used tires offers enormous potential, but also presents major challenges. Together with ministry representatives, Mahmoud Daouk (RGR, ZARE partner) and other representatives from the AZuR network discussed the certified disposal, retreading and material and chemical recycling of used tires.

The discussion showed that the transformation to a circular economy will only succeed if existing regulations are revised, bureaucratic hurdles are removed and awareness of the importance of secondary raw materials is increased. Clear guidelines and consistent implementation are needed, particularly in the area of certified disposal, to ensure environmentally friendly recycling routes.

With their expertise, the ZARE representatives have helped to put the issue of tire recycling on the political agenda. Close cooperation between politics, business and the recycling industry is crucial to promote sustainable solutions and further develop the circular economy in NRW.
