The ZARE initiative launched an online survey from December 1, 2016 to March 15, 2017 to discuss how firmly the topic of "sustainable disposal of used tires" is actually anchored in the minds of garages, tire dealers and car dealerships. The participants were asked to provide information about, among other things, how the disposal of used tires is organized at their place, which criteria apply when choosing a disposal company and whether they know what actually happens to the tires that are collected from them. The 20-question questionnaire could be completed anonymously or by providing personal information. The evaluation is now available and gives hope for the future: 91% of those surveyed stated that sustainable disposal of old tires is important to them. As many as 96% would stop working with their waste disposal company if they found out that it was not reputable. But also that economic considerations play an important role: 50% choose the disposal company that offers them the best conditions.
