Natural rubber prices continue to rise on Asian stock exchanges. "The industry was confronted with a similarly challenging situation a good eight years ago," explains Helmut Hirsch from the German Rubber Industry Association. V. (WdK). Even the slight recovery in the euro exchange rate was only able to soften the development slightly. Natural rubber is twice as high today as it was a year ago, the mark of two euros per kilogram has long been exceeded. There is no relief in sight: “We are just before the wintering. The time when natural rubber production is severely restricted due to the seasonal weather conditions in Southeast Asia,” says Hirsch.
The simultaneous increase in the price of basic petrochemicals also affected synthetic rubber, particularly styrene-butadiene rubber. "The German rubber industry continues to be confronted with a commodity market that is picking up in the key segments."
