Bonn, September 08.09.2021th, XNUMX Proper disposal of used tires can make a significant contribution to resource conservation. That is why the ZARE initiative has set itself the task of raising awareness of responsible and sustainable tire recycling. The partners of the ZARE initiative support, among other things, the retreading and recycling of tires.
The environmentally friendly disposal of used tires remains a challenge: In Germany, almost 600.000 tons of tires are discarded every year. If the old tires are not disposed of properly, they are a burden on nature and the environment. Because tires do not rot. The ZARE initiative, an association of 19 certified used tire disposal companies, tire recyclate recyclers and retreaders, is working together to find future-oriented and efficient recycling methods for used tires and to return the components of used tires completely to the material cycle. The disposal companies check exactly which recycling method is the best. Retreading is the preferred recycling because it avoids waste at the same time. This is followed directly by material recycling and only when the tires cannot be materially recycled - too dirty or sealed tires - thermal recycling is required. The goal of all partners: An extended circular economy that takes the entire product life cycle into account. Circular economy not only includes the reuse and recycling of products, but also sustainable product design, long and efficient use and the avoidance of waste.
Environmental and climate protection concerns everyone
Everyone can contribute to a functioning circular economy: If car drivers, workshops, tire dealers, car dealerships and local authorities only dispose of used tires via certified waste tire disposal companies, this ensures that they are recycled in the appropriate way and do not damage the environment. There are various processes for recycling used tires, such as retreading, material recycling, thermal recycling or pyrolysis. Used tires are a valuable raw material from which new, durable recycling products can be manufactured.
A tire can have many lives
Recycled rubber can be used for the production of new tires as well as retreaded tires. Retreaded tires are a cost-effective and ecological alternative to new tyres. They are comparable in quality to new tires, but save up to 70 percent of the energy that is used in the production of a new tire. With retreading, the carcass, the substructure of the tire, is reused and reprocessed. The worn profile strip is "peeled off" and a new one is applied. Not every tire is suitable for retreading. Certified waste disposal companies carefully sort old tires and check exactly which recycling method is the most sustainable. In the spirit of the circular economy, the partner companies of the ZARE initiative are committed to the multiple use of tires.
The ZARE initiative recommends planning the disposal of used tires in good time. To this end, ZARE's partner companies offer attractive services for all types of tyres, such as the provision of collective containers. About the ZARE initiative
The ZARE initiative is an amalgamation of 19 companies organized in the Federal Association of Tire Trade and Vulcanizing Trades (BRV), 16 of which are certified waste management companies. The ZARE partners have set themselves the task of raising awareness of professional tire recycling in Germany. ZARE informs drivers about the environmentally friendly disposal of used tires. At 26 locations, the ZARE partners cover almost all of Germany and the Netherlands.
