The first day of THE TIRE COLOGNE 2026 was a resounding success for the ZARE initiative (Certified Used Tire Disposal Companies). Numerous visitors took the opportunity to learn about the opportunities and challenges of sustainable used tire disposal and a circular economy for tires at the ZARE booth.
We were particularly pleased by the visit of North Rhine-Westphalia's Environment Minister, Oliver Krischer, during the trade fair tour "NRW – Lighthouse of the Tire Circular Economy." The Minister took the time to discuss the importance of the professional collection, sorting, and recycling of used tires, as well as the role of certified waste management companies in a functioning circular economy.
A sustainable tire circular economy begins at the end of the product's life cycle – with proper disposal. Certified used tire disposal companies ensure that used tires are directed to the most ecologically and economically sound recycling pathways – from reuse and retreading to mechanical and chemical recycling.
In doing so, they make an important contribution to resource conservation, the reduction of CO₂ emissions and the securing of valuable raw materials for the economy in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and Europe.
Many thanks to all visitors for their great interest and the exciting conversations!
