European Week for Waste Reduction: Used tires belong in the recycling loop, not in nature.

As part of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) from November 22nd to 30th, 2025, the ZARE initiative – Certified Tire Disposal Companies – draws attention to the central importance of proper tire disposal.

Used tires are not waste – they are a valuable material!

Even when their function on the vehicle ends, used tires are far from being trash. They contain valuable raw materials such as rubber, steel, and textile fibers that can be returned to the cycle through professional recycling. However, this requires that they are disposed of in a controlled and environmentally sound manner – and not illegally dumped in nature or exported without proper oversight.

The ZARE initiative advocates for the collection, sorting, and recycling of used tires exclusively through certified waste management companies. Depending on their condition, the tires are either retreaded or recycled in modern facilities, for example into rubber granulate, steel, and other secondary raw materials.

ZARE is participating digitally in this year's EWAV (European Waste Management Association) and providing information about the importance of certified disposal routes. The aim is to raise awareness: How can everyone contribute to conserving resources, preventing illegal dumping, and supporting a functioning circular economy?

Sustainability begins with proper disposal: ZARE partners meet strict legal and environmental requirements. Their certified processes guarantee transparency, traceability, and sustainable recycling. This is the only way to avoid environmental pollution and keep resources in circulation permanently.
