But still too many tires end up on illegal landfills or in nature. With responsible disposal of used tires, tire dealers and garages can actively protect the environment and contribute to the conservation of resources.
The boom in electric cars shows that drivers are increasingly paying attention to environmental aspects and want to reduce CO2 emissions. But when it comes to tires in particular, there is still room for improvement when it comes to sustainability. In Germany, almost 600.000 tons of old tires accumulate every year. If tires are not properly disposed of and dumped on heaps or in forests, they harm nature. In order to prevent this and reduce the huge volume of tyres, responsible waste tire disposal companies joined forces in 2015 to form the ZARE initiative (certified waste tire disposal companies). The 19 companies that currently belong to the ZARE initiative ensure that every tire is recycled in a sensible way.
Tire recycling is sustainable because reusing tire components reduces waste and strengthens the circular economy. Resource-saving recycling methods are primarily retreading and the use of recycled tires in asphalt, floor coverings, green roofs or other new products, but energetic recycling in pyrolysis plants.
Inform customers – profile your own company
Climate change is progressing and environmental problems are becoming more pressing. Tire dealers and garages can do a lot for the environment by disposing of tires properly. In order to inform and raise customer awareness, the ZARE initiative is providing motor vehicle companies with a compact campaign package with easy-to-understand information flyers and two posters. With the signet "We're thinking about tomorrow!", workshops can also indicate online that used tires are only disposed of by certified companies in their company.
Tire dealers and garages can download the information material from the ZARE website https://zertifizierte-altreifenentsorger.de/aktionspaket to order. The prerequisite for purchasing the promotional package is that the workshop has all used tires disposed of by a certified disposal company. The service charge for car workshops is €149 + VAT per year. A package is offered for retail chains or larger branches.
