The ZARE member has been around for 50 years tire draws For professional and sustainable disposal of used tires. What began in 1976 as a family business has developed into a modern waste management company that consistently focuses on resource conservation and the circular economy in its work.
Long before sustainability became a central theme in the industry, Reifen Draws focused on the high-quality recycling of used tires. Today, large quantities of used tires are carefully inspected, sorted, and sent to the most suitable recycling channel each year at the 18.000 square meter facility in Schwenningen.
A key component of this approach is the reuse of usable tires. After a thorough quality inspection, these are reintroduced into the economic cycle. High-quality truck casings are retreaded and can be reused multiple times. Compared to new production, this saves up to 70 percent of energy as well as valuable raw materials such as natural rubber and petroleum.
Tires that are no longer usable are recycled using modern recycling processes. With its own shredding plant, Reifen Draws recovers steel, among other materials, as a secondary raw material and returns it to the material cycle. Reuse and recycling thus make an important contribution to conserving natural resources.
The company also prioritizes sustainable solutions within its own operations. A biomass heating plant supplies the site with heat and energy, while a rainwater harvesting system significantly reduces drinking water consumption. Continuous investments in modern technology and environmentally friendly processes underscore the company's commitment to the ongoing development of the circular economy.
Furthermore, Reifen Draws has been committed to the quality standards of the entire industry for many years. Managing Director Manfred Draws was one of the founding members of the ZARE initiative – Certified Used Tire Disposal Companies – in 2015. The initiative aims to promote the proper disposal of used tires, ensure high-quality recycling processes, and raise public awareness of the importance of sustainable tire recycling.
