In order to remove illegal garbage dumps and so-called wild dumps, many communities rely on "cleaning days" on which volunteer helpers remove the coarsest dirt. In the Baden town of Kenzingen, about 20 kilometers north of Freiburg, the "Ortsreinigungte" took place for the eighth time. The result of the thorough cleaning was once again sobering: in addition to countless rubbish bags full of rubbish, a whole set of sofas, car tires with and without rims, tarpaulins, roof panels and even a canopy were salvaged. Most of it could be disposed of free of charge with the bulky waste. Either the polluters don't want to wait that long or the administrative offense gives them an additional kick.
