Thrown over 60 tires from the bridge into the creek

Old tires thrown into creek

In Silz (Rhineland-Palatinate), around 60 tires of various sizes were thrown from a bridge into the stream on the upper reaches of the Klingbach.
Rolf Kiefer from the Waste Advice Service of the EWW (in-house company WertstoffWirtschaft of the Südliche Weinstraße district) knows the black sheep. It's often tire collectors who go to car repair shops and collect used tires, allegedly to export them to Poland. In fact, many of the tires end up somewhere in the landscape. The disposal is financed by the general public. The responsible recycling centers charge 3 euros per old tire for acceptance.
