The Night of the Burning Tires

ZARE | Certified waste tire disposal company | Burning scrap tires

In the night of July 1st, the fire brigade in Western Pomerania had to deal with two sources of fire. In both cases it was a question of old tire stores that were ablaze with flames, the first at around 2:30 a.m. on a meadow in Zemitz.
The problem with the extinguishing of this ten by twenty meter old tire mountain was the supply of extinguishing water. A shuttle service with tank fire engines had to be organized between the remote source of the fire and a well in the town of Zemitz.
Not long after, the report came in that another used tire store on the B111 between Bannemin and Zinnowitz on the island of Usedom had caught fire at around 3:30 a.m. The fire brigade was finally able to bring both fires, whose total damage amounts to some 1.000 euros, under control.
In addition, the emergency services noticed a conspicuous white small car in the vicinity of the burning used tire warehouse. The two male inmates, 20 and 25 years old, living in Greifswald, were taken into custody and already interrogated by the police, but deny any involvement in the crime. The investigations continue.
After the fire on the island of Usedom was finally extinguished around 7:00 a.m., the operation was officially ended.
