Reifenberg in Falkenstein testifies to "criminal energy"

Hundreds of illegally dumped car tires on a pile of tires in Falkenstein, symbolizing environmental damage and criminal energy.

The mayor of Falkenstein (Saxony-Anhalt) certifies the person responsible for a mountain of tires at the former station of the town as having criminal energy. Hundreds of tires from tractors, trucks and cars have been illegally dumped there and have been waiting for disposal for months.
Due to the amount of tires, the police and public prosecutor's office were involved in the investigation. It is hoped that the culprit can be found as long as the tires remain stationary. If no perpetrator can be identified, the property owner, i.e. the city of Falkenstein itself, is obliged to dispose of the tires properly. This is particularly painful because the city in the Harz Mountains is in the middle of a budget consolidation phase.
Despite an excellent disposal system, Falkenstein has been fighting illegal dumping and illegal landfills for years. But the magnitude of the current case represents a completely new quality. However, it is in line with the overall development in the Harz district. According to the waste authority, 143 tons of household and bulky waste were illegally disposed of in 2015, nine tons more than in the previous year.
