The mountain of illegally dumped tires in northern Saxony continues to grow

ZARE | Certified waste tire disposal company | Illegal waste tire mountain

Farmer Heiko Fischer from Pohritzsch in Saxony can hardly believe it when he learns on the morning of July 1 that around 100 used tires have been disposed of in his field. "It always happens that there are always two to four tires lying around, but this amount horrifies me," says Fischer, who immediately informs the responsible environmental agency about the incident.
Initial investigations point to a particularly brazen case of old tire disposal: tire tracks reveal that a truck must have driven straight onto the field – and not once, but twice. But in order to locate the polluter, the authorities depend on information from the public.
In Pohritzsch (Northern Saxony district) one is used to such grief. With the new mountain of tires, the number of used tires disposed of in 2016 rose to 503. They were mainly found in bulky waste collections, on forest and field paths and in remote parking lots. Last year the number was 913 and caused disposal costs of around 4.000 euros.
