A forest worker from the Kalbeck forestry company could hardly believe his eyes when he wanted to go to the Kalbecker Busch on Friday, May 18: the forest path was filled up with a large pile of old tires. These had apparently been dumped there during the previous night. On the forest path on Uedemer Straße in Weeze - L5 - unknown persons had placed 50 old tires, but in such a way that the path was completely blocked. In the event of an accident involving forest workers or walkers, access for rescue workers would have been very difficult. This is no longer a trivial offense but a criminal offence. Therefore, a complaint was made against unknown persons and even a reward of 1.000 euros was offered.
If these 50 tires had been properly disposed of, it would have only cost 250 euros. The perpetrator can expect a fine of up to 25.000 euros.
Georg Koenen, the head of the Weezer regulatory office, suspects that the tires could have come from a car workshop based on the quantity and the labeling. Certainly a larger vehicle was needed for the transport. The municipality and the Kalbeck forestry operation are hoping for information from witnesses to Mr. Georg Koenen, telephone 02837/910130 or to the Kleve police on 02821/5040.
