There has been a worrying increase in illegal tire disposal in Geesthacht in recent months.

The last incident occurred on September 28, 2023 on Krukower Weg, in the Grünhof district. A dozen old car tires were picked up in the middle of nature. The responsible environmental department calls on citizens to help combat such crimes. Environmental pollution doesn't just harm nature. Every single taxpayer is also affected by the consequences. The costs of proper disposal represent a significant burden on public finances.
As a result, the authorities have filed a complaint against an unknown person with the Geesthacht police. Fines for incidents like this are significant. In Schleswig-Holstein, one improperly disposed of old tire can cost up to 200 euros; if more than five, the cost can be up to 1.000 euros.
