In the Dithmarschen district, an unknown person illegally dumped approximately 30 car tires in a nature reserve near Hollingstedt. As the Itzehoe Police Directorate reports, the Hennstedt police station received a report on April 7, 2026, that a large number of tires had been found in a bend of the protected area between Hollingstedt, Delve, and Horst (Bauernweg). Officers confirmed the discovery on site. Due to the quantity, it is assumed that the tires were transported by vehicle and dumped there. The act is particularly serious because the dumping occurred in a nature reserve: used tires release pollutants into the soil and groundwater over many years, directly endangering the protected flora and fauna. The person responsible has not yet been identified. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hennstedt police station at +49 4836 2559920.
