A series of illegal disposals of old tires is keeping the police and the Westerwald district's lower waste authority on their toes. Since June 17, 2024, a total of around 340 old tires have been illegally dumped in places such as Montabaur, Großholbach, and as far as Hadamar. The tires were traced back to a local car repair shop, which had sold them to a scrap dealer.
The perpetrators, who used a white Mercedes Sprinter with Heidelberg license plates, were recently identified.
The authorities are asking for further information from people who may have sold used tires to the waste disposal companies.
