On the night of Friday, December 01st to Saturday, December 02nd, 2023, unknown perpetrators illegally disposed of a considerable amount of old tires in Schwegenheim and damaged a newly built bus shelter and a transformer station. In one case there is already a promising lead.
The local mayor Bodo Lutzke and his deputy Holger Hellmann (both FWG) are angry about the incidents. A significant number of over 100 old tires were dumped in the forest area behind the rifle house late on Friday evening. An alert witness noticed a tire on Mulbeerweg around 23:30 p.m. and later found three more tires on the side of the road. He probably missed the others in the dark. For Lutzke, the large amount of illegally disposed of old tires suggests that the perpetrators may have connections to a workshop. What is annoying for him is that illegal tire disposal occurs again and again in Schwegenheim and the surrounding communities and is becoming a problem. The disposal of the tires represents a significant burden for the community, as high costs and effort are incurred to dispose of them properly in consultation with the district administration. The community workers lose a whole day on this task and are then absent from other areas.
There is a promising lead to Baden-Württemberg, more precisely to the Karlsruhe area. A well-preserved sticker on one of the old tires contains “customer information,” the name and license plate number of the tires’ previous owner. The hope is to locate the repair shop that apparently stored the tires. With regard to the reward of 1.000 euros that the local community has offered for information leading to the capture of the perpetrators, we are hoping for helpful information.
