In Gahlen, seven illegally disposed old tires are blighting the landscape on the town's border. The tires neatly discarded on the side of the road on January 21, 2024 suggest that this was a deliberate act, once again highlighting the problem of illegal waste disposal. Such environmental offenses can be punished with high fines, especially in North Rhine-Westphalia, where a new catalog of fines has been in force since 2022.
