Between February 27 and March 3, 2025, numerous old tires were illegally dumped on the "Gühlers Busch" access road in Olfen. The city suspects that a car repair shop disposed of them using a trailer.
On December 27, 2025, approximately 100 used tires were illegally dumped in nature near the Krausen Baum on Schöppinger Berg. The municipality of Schöppingen has filed a police report.
On December 22, 2025, approximately 19 used tires were illegally dumped along an agricultural road near the L50/L52 highways close to Salmtal, Altrich, and Klausen-Pohlbach. The Wittlich Police Inspectorate is investigating.
With the increasing prevalence of tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) in modern vehicles, the challenge of used tire disposal is also growing. The TPMS sensor usually remains with the tire.
