On Thursday afternoon, August 6, 2026, old tires caught fire at a grain storage facility near Bauschlotter Weg, between the Neulingen districts of Göbrichen and Bauschlott in the Enzkreis district. Around 15 p.m., a cyclist reported smoke; upon inspection, it was discovered that the stored tires were ablaze. The fire department was alerted and quickly extinguished the fire. No grain was stored at the facility at the time – the old tires were being used to weigh down a tarpaulin. The police have not released information on how many tires were affected. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing; a possible connection to a series of fires in the northern Enzkreis district, which have kept fire departments busy for weeks, is also being examined. Burning old tires release significant amounts of soot and pollutants, contaminating the soil and air.
